PROCESS AND SCHEDULE

The development of the Plan will require a number of steps to ensure an effective and implementable vision for Downtown Napa. First, it is important to gather information and data from many different sources in order to identify the important opportunities and constraints of the project. Second, the community must be able to articulate what they want the Downtown to look like in the future. A third and critical step in the process is the design of effective plan goals and strategies to achieve this vision.

These three planning stages can be simply understood as efforts to answer three questions:

  1. Where are we now?
  2. Where do we want to be?
  3. How do we get there?

Highlights of the first two planning stages include:

  • Analyzing current conditions of Downtown Napa
  • Involving the community in the discussion of issues through an upcoming survey, interviews with various stakeholder groups, and a community workshop
  • Establishment of a Steering Committee to help guide the project and process
  • Creating planning alternatives and strategies

During the third phase, we will develop the final plan.
